Visit Us
We are happy to announce that you can now visit the Hand & Lock atelier. One of the oldest work room still in activity today, containing an archive of embroidered work dating back to 1790!
There are various reasons for you to arrange a tour at Hand & Lock. Here are some examples:
- You are part of a group (min. 5), visiting London and are interested in hand Embroidery, Fashion, Military Embroidery, Accoutrements etc. Then you definitely have to stop by Hand & Lock.
- You are teaching either one of the following: fashion, textiles, arts, design, fabric embellishments, history or embroidery and you want to show examples to your students
- You are members of a Guild and want to organize your quarterly trip.
We propose a guided tour of 45 minutes per group. During the tour you’ll see our specialised embroiderers working on actual projects, using techniques such as Tambour beading, Trapunto, Cornely amongst others. You will be shown stunning pieces and samples we have provided the Fashion industry and the Theatre; illustrating examples of Diplomatic and Military Court Dress for all over the world. You will also have the opportunity to have a look at our archives from the XVIII century.
Join us for an historic and entertaining moment.
