Fantastic new opportunity to come to our school for a day and work a mini sampler. You will be able to try out a variety of techniques such as Goldwork, whitework, basic embroidery stitches and silk shading among others. All material supplied on the day.

JACOBEAN CREWEL WORK

 A style of embroidery bought over by the East India trading company. Learn basic but effective embroidery stitches in bright coloured crewel wool, to create a stylish design.

The sample presented takes 6 hours. Students can book 2 successive classes of 3 hours each or different 3 hours sessions.

Techniques covered: satin stitch, cretan, vandyke, chain stitch, french knots, raised stem band, whipped wheel, laced herringbone, stem stitch.

The Jacobean Kit includes:
- detailed instructions
- 30 X 30cm² Linen Twill
- 2 of No. 8 Crewel needles
- Appletons crewel wool

GOLDWORK

 A traditional technique that has been used for many centuries on ceremonial robes and military insignia.  Because of the various techniques and many wires available, goldwork has become a hugely popular and contemporary embroidery technique.  Goldwork can be applied to garments and used with other techniques to create brooches and other accessories.

Techniques covered: chip work, cutwork over soft string padding, couched passing over felt padding, pearl purl.

Technique covered: Or Nue, looped chips, passing over card, s-ing with spangles, cutwork, tapestry shading, s-ing, pearl purl, overstreched pearl purl, chips, applied twist.

The Goldwork intermediate kit's price will be between £15 - £30

TAMBOUR BEADING

This is a more challenging technique known as ‘painting with a needle’, because of the blending and shading of threads.  Using a long & short stitch you can create mini works of art that look natural and realistic

A bespoke tailored course for all level: beginners, intermediate and advanced.

3 hours within a 12 weeks period.

Start at £750.00 12weeks

 

Student in each level is taught one day a week for 12 weeks. The first six weeks can be spent working a choice of techniques from our selection of kits or your own designs The next six weeks are spent working on your own project, from the initial design stage with our Creative Director, Claire Barrett, to deciding on the perfect stitches and completing the piece.
