100 Best films of the decade

Costumiers all over the world have heard about the finest goldwork produced by M Hand’s master craftsmen and the intricate beadwork embroidery by S Lock. Since the 2 companies merged in 2001, Hand & Lock has consistently been involved in developing embroidery ideas for movies, theatre and opera companies, many of these because we undertook the original embroidery for the subjects of the films and plays. Hand & Lock’s work has been highly sought after by the best historical productions. It was therefore pleasing to see The Times 100 Best Films of the Decade list being published on November 7th.
No. 7 on this list, The Last King of Scotland qualified as one of the greatest performances of the decade! 2007 Oscar and Golden Globe winner Forrest Whitaker played a remarkable Idi Amin Dada. Hand & Lock is proud to have provided the movie with the finest military badges and accoutrements: all the aiguillettes, lanyards, gorgets, patches, shoulder cords and rankings. Back in the 1970’s M.Hand provided embroidery for this tyrant through tailors Gieves & Hawkes.
