Hand & Lock recently featured in Black Beauty & Hair Magazine. Black Beauty & Hair, published every two month is regarded as the leading hair and beauty magazine for women of colour. It is an interesting mix of cutting edge styles and informative articles on hair, beauty, fashion and lifestyle. It is a glossy “coffee table” magazine and a must-read for women of colour.
Regular features in the magazine include beauty news, hair gallery, hair-care information, product reviews, celebrity features, hair and beauty problem pages, makeovers and fashion news.
The scarification techniques of southern Sudan provided the inspiration for the runner-up of the 2006 prestigious Hand and Lock Embroidery Prize. While a varied and sophisticated array of traditional and contemporary stitches impressed the judges, it was the extraordinary surface embellishment of Sophie Tilbury the really impressed the judges.
